For three weeks Brookside House played host to two accidental time-travellers, Tom from 1932 and Katie from 1962. In order for them to return home Tom, Katie and the residents were set missions by the mysterious UNCLE to recapture fragments of history that had gone missing in the future.
Their primary 'mission' was to collect reminiscences from the residents of Brookside who had worked as 'Flower Girls' over forty years ago. Alongside this, by re-enacting and discussing moments from history with the residents of John Grooms - such as VE day celebrations, Sixties 'hippy' festivals, Elvis concerts and by recreating lost films, music and TV (think Coronation Street, Eastenders, The Terminator, Audrey Hepburn, Casablanca, The Time-warp, James Bond, Jim'll Fix it) the residents and staff helped Tom and Katie to return home.
But of course during their missions, and with the encouragement of Brookside residents, Tom and Katie had fallen in love so on leaving Brookside they went to 1970, as a couple.
