The Grange, operated by Forest Healthcare, has become the 5th service that Ladder to the Moon is working with to be rated as Outstanding overall by CQC. There are only 40 Care Homes for people over 65 that have achieve CQC’s outstanding rating.
The home achieved Outstanding in the Responsive and Well-Led KLOEs, and their work with Ladder to the Moon has been cited as evidence for the characteristics of outstanding in both KLOEs.
“Ladder to the Moon… meant the provider demonstrated commitment to achieving excellence in providing a truly positive care experience through innovative and creative leadership.” The Grange CQC Report Well-Led
We are delivering a package of support for The Grange, including creative leadership development, Vibrant Communities and Outstanding Activities. Commenting on Vibrant Communities the service manager, Wendy Mead, said
"Feedback from staff was that they found this to be very therapeutic for them and was like going on a team building course – they found out new strengths about each other and felt it gave them permission to have an idea and then to run with it. They felt encouraged and confident."
as CQC said in their report:
“Ladder to the Moon… enabled the service to bring creativity to care, promoted meaningful activities and involved the staff and the people at the service.” The Grange CQC Report Responsive
The Grange is the second Forest Healthcare home to achieve CQC Outstanding overall, congratulations to their CEO Paul Musgrave, and his team. They show that by being consistently focused on supporting creativity and innovation in their services you get some transformative results.
For me achieving outstanding is about enabling everyone of your staff to bring their creativity to their work. As the Grange's Manger Wendy said:
"The programme found the best in people and used that to help build the confidence of the team and give our residents the courage to participate”.
