In a nutshell, a Standout audit helps you to understand what’s great in your organisation today, and how you can develop great new things tomorrow.
Our audits identify practice that stands out from the norm. We spotlight staff members who show sparks of potential for future growth. And we pinpoint opportunities which can be developed between your staff, residents and the general community of the service.
Audits are carried out by Fran Sexton, Head of Business Development. Fran has a background in Local Authority Commissioning and has worked for the Care Quality Commission. So she knows exactly what to look out for.
Fran will liaise with your service manager, to set the scene before she visits. This will help to reassure everyone of her purpose.
Early on the day of her visit, Fran will meet with the manager and senior staff. In discussion, she’ll explore where they feel the home’s strengths are, what challenges they are facing, and where they believe she should focus.
During the day of her visit, Fran will carry out observations throughout the home. She’ll chat with staff, residents and visitors, and take a light touch look at documentation.
At the end of her visit, Fran will share her findings and feedback with the manager. She’ll pinpoint those areas of great practice, or ideas and staff to further develop.
It’s important to remember that the purpose of Fran’s visit is to highlight the strengths of the home as a whole. But if there are concerns, she’ll discuss these in full with the manager. She’ll always take a supportive approach, helping you to build on a bedrock of great practice.
After her visit, Fran will produce a report which you can use as an action plan, or feed into the home service improvement plan.
Standout audits are valuable in their own right, and add extra value when used in conjunction with out coaching programme, as a means of generating extra support and direction.
